Roger's Ice Cream opens in Post Falls

Roger’s Ice Cream & Burgers opens Monday in its new 2,900-square-foot building at 403 N. Spokane St. (south of I-90) in Post Falls.

Roger’s started in Moscow in 1940 and moved to Coeur d’Alene in the 1980s. Like its older sister stores on East Sherman and Neider Avenue in Coeur d’Alene, Roger’s offers fresh ground-beef burgers, turkey burger, garden burger, fresh-cut french fries, home-made kettle chips, beverages and more than 16 flavors of hand-dipped ice cream, shakes and malts.

Owners since 2009 are Mark and Nicole Randolph. Josh Martin is manager in Post Falls. The new place has indoor seating for 60, outdoor for 50 and a drive-through.

Handcrafted adventure vacations with guided rafting, kayaking, biking, standup paddle boarding and fishing trips in the Inland Northwest and in destinations worldwide are offered by ROW Adventures. Other options include food and wine tours, walks, lodging and adventures for special occasions and groups.

With 37 years of experience, the business recently moved from 202 E. Sherman Ave. to its own building at 418 E. Coeur d’Alene Ave. Owners and founders are Peter Grubb and Betsy Bowen.

Black Friday’s

opens in Hayden

Greatly discounted apparel, shoes and accessories are offered at Black Friday’s that just opened at 1305 W. Biztown Loop (at West Hayden Avenue).

“Instead of trying to get the most for each item, my model is by volume,” said owner Kevin Adams. “It’s always fun to see shoppers come in for the first time and see the shock set in when they see how low and crazy the prices are.”

Light Dance Co.

moves to Hayden

Expanding to two studios to offer more options, The Light Dance Co. has moved from Post Falls to Suite 1 at 9407 N. Government Way in Hayden.

Programs for students of all ages and abilities include beginning and advanced ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, lyrical, musical theater, Dance 101, conditioning for dance, dance for special needs and classes for home-school groups, birthday parties and a special performance group.

Stacey Berger is owner, program director and lead instructor and has taught dance and gymnastics since 2004. She studied at the Central Oregon School of Ballet and the University of Idaho.

n Bicycle Sales & Service is moving on Fourth Street and changing its name to Trek Bicycle Store. The Ugly Fish restaurant in Riverstone closes soon and will be replaced with another eatery. And Press Start to Play will move from Sherman Avenue to Riverstone.

n Young Chef’s Academy will be in Prairie Shopping Center in early February, and Express Employment Professionals will open Monday in the west side of Winco.

n Watch for Kitchen CDA in the Silver Lake Mall food court. Spies say other stores are coming into the mall also. Taco Loco will be where Valentino’s Pizza was off Canfield Avenue. The Gutter Guys will be on Government Way. Cash & Carry store will be behind Wendy’s off Appleway, and Cosmic Cowboy Grill will be at Highway 95 and Haycraft Avenue.

n In Hayden, Idaho Central Credit Union is under construction at Government Way and Honeysuckle. Sugarcoat Salon will be on Biztown Loop. An Asian eatery will be where Kynrede Cafe was and a gas station-convenience store in the southwest corner of Highway 95 and Lancaster. A new medical building is planned for 7772 N. Mystic St., which is south of Prairie across from Caddy Shack.

n A major development called The Crossroads is proposed for Athol. Watch for details. We anticipate a Super 1, a bank, coffee shop, a motel, a gas station-convenience store, a restaurant and others.

n Downtown — Watch for Cloud Nine Bridal in The Resort Plaza Shops and Rustic Restaurant at 309 Sherman (next to Clark’s Jewelry).

n New places in Post Falls will be Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen, Green & Grounds Coffee Shop, Cricket Wireless and The Lean Bean. Domino’s Pizza is moving to a new place. Silverlake Automotoive opened last week at 3380 E. Mullan Ave. (details next week).

n New places coming to Tedder Business Center (formerly the Post Falls Outlet Mall) north building will include Black-Ops Self Defense, My Big Fat Greek Deli, Knowhere Comics, Coffee & Games, SNR Costume Rental and The Coffee House.

n Check your vehicle lights. Too many are one-eyed (or tailed). Turn lights on in the fog, snow and dim light. Don’t say, “You scared the daylights out of me.”

n Use “naval” pertaining to a navy. A “navel” is a bellybutton. A navel orange is a seedless orange with a small depression like a navel.

n A real headline: “Study of obesity seeks larger test group.”
