Jerry Mote, 78
Jerry Bradley Mote left this world for a heavenly tee time on Jan. 10, 2017. Jerry was born June 3, 1938, in Memphis, Tenn., to Delmar Gerald and Elsie Jane Fulkerson Mote.
He was raised by his grandparents and received his early education at military schools in Tennessee. After a few years in Ada, Okla., he moved to Phoenix, Ariz., where he furthered his education at Phoenix Junior College. He also served briefly in the U.S. Navy.
Jerry moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1972 and was active in the manufactured home business and in car sales locally. He and his former wife, Annie, opened the Coeur d’Alene Baskin Robbins Ice Cream store in 1976. They also owned Granny’s Wild Geranium, a gift store. At the time of his death, he owned a title loan business in Post Falls.
Jerry enjoyed many hobbies and activities throughout his life including sailing to Tahiti on a 38-foot sail boat; pilot training in Ardmore, Okla.; men’s softball teams, snow skiing, fly fishing and riding his Harley. His passion was golf. He was a constant figure at the area golf courses and enjoyed playing competitively. He also enjoyed playing cards with his friends.
Jerry was fond of women and was married and divorced three times. His mother and father; a brother, Johnny and three infant sons preceded him in death. He is survived by son Scott (Gina) Mote of Coeur d’Alene; daughters Christine (Tim) Blaylock of Mesa, Ariz., and Jennifer (Chris) Lempesis of Coeur d’Alene; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; cousins in Tennessee; and special friends in Coeur d’Alene.
Jerry did not wish to have a formal service or memorial. His friends may wish to honor him with a round of golf and a cold drink, or adopt a pet from the Kootenai Humane Society.
