John Joseph Walker, 75

John Joseph Walker, 75, of Post Falls, Idaho, passed away Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016, at home and at peace. He was born in Lakeland, Fla., to Woodville J. Walker and Bella M. Thurston.

John was a U.S. Marine from February 1961 to December 1964, working as a radio technician. After the Marines, John was a telephone repairman for a number of telephone companies, finishing his career with Roseville Telephone Company in 2000 after 25 plus years.

He moved to North Idaho to pursue his passion of hunting and fishing, getting his “once in a lifetime moose,” bagging a large elk and spending many years fishing in pike tournaments with his son. John will be loved and missed.

He is survived by wife Shirley; son Patrick; daughter Renee and eight loving grandchildren.

Viewing will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, 2017, and funeral services will follow at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, 2017, at Yates Funeral Home, Hayden Chapel.

Burial will be at 2:15 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, 2017, at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake, Wash., with full military honors.
