Lee Delano Witt, 66
Lee Delano Witt, 66, passed away peacefully Dec. 12, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer. Lee, one of eight children, was born Jan. 30, 1950, in Fort Jackson, S.C., to Jane and Lt. Col. Eugene Witt.
Lee retired from Transtector, Smiths Power in December 2014. Throughout her career she received recognitions for being an exemplary employee.
Lee and her older sister/best friend Cynthia (Cindy LuLu, as Lee would call her, after her favorite “Grinch” movie) enjoyed many adventures together. They especially enjoyed traveling between Nevada, California and Alaska visiting family.
Lee loved animals and adopted many homeless dogs over the years to give them a loving home. Some would say she treated her dogs better than humans.
Lee appreciated and immensely enjoyed the outdoors wherever she lived. Some of her fondest memories were hiking in the mountains with her sister, Cynthia, fishing and camping on the lakes in California with her brother, David, and a moose hunt floating Beaver Creek in the White Mountains of Alaska with her brother, Patton.
Lee had a heart of gold and if she saw someone in need she would do whatever she could to help. Christmas was her favorite holiday, she never passed a Salvation Army bucket without donating to help the needy.
Lee is preceded in death by her parents; sister Judie Witt; brother Jackson Witt and nephew Kevin Witt.
She is survived by her sisters, Cynthia Witt of Idaho and Eleanor Tiller of California; her brothers, David Witt (Penny) of California, Douglas Witt of Nevada and Patton Witt (Annie) of Alaska; nieces Julie Hansen and Wendy Witt; nephew Bradley Witt; numerous other relatives and friends; and her canine companion, Knut.
