BOND: Reasons for support

| February 24, 2017 12:00 AM

I am writing in support of the $35.5 million bond to be voted on in March. It is critical for the community to understand this bond does not cost most taxpayers any more money than they’re paying now. Our schools educate the future of our community, and it’s very important every student have the best possible circumstances to succeed in their education.

As part of the upgrades, Dalton Gardens Elementary will gain more classrooms, a separate room for music and art, and more parking. Although some people feel funding invested in art forms is misguided, music plays a key role in a child’s brain development. These art forms also teach a natural and creative expression not learned in today’s technology driven society. The staff at Dalton has done an amazing job teaching my kids. These improvements would help them continue to do so for many years to come.

As housing continues to branch out in the northwest side of town their need for an elementary will also continue to grow. This bond acknowledges that need with a new elementary school. High schools get more classrooms, and several updates concerning children’s safety are included as well.

This bond is needed for our community and school district. Vote yes for our kids.
