Man charged with indecent exposure

POST FALLS — A registered sex offender was arrested Saturday night after he was allegedly found with his pants down, watching a woman shower at a Post Falls RV park.

Douglas Edward Smith, 56, Post Falls, was arrested for indecent exposure and a probation violation for a similar past offense. The latest alleged offense occurred at the Suntree RV Park, 350 N. Idahline Road, along Interstate 90 on the city's west side.

"Two women went in to clean the restroom when (Smith) was found watching a female shower," Post Falls Police Chief Scot Haug said. "She did not know she was being watched. He was standing there with his pants down (and genitals exposed)."

When the cleaning crew yelled at Smith to leave, he stumbled out of the restroom with his pants still down and the women watched him walk to his trailer inside the park, the police report states.

"When they got his space number, they called us," Haug said. "When our officer responded and took the report, (Smith) still had his pants down while talking to the officer."

Haug said it appeared Smith was heavily intoxicated when the officer responded at 5:27 p.m. Smith was arrested based on a complaint filed by a citizen at the park.

Smith has a lengthy criminal history that includes disturbing the peace, indecent exposure, petit theft and DUIs.
