A doughnut and a smile

| February 21, 2017 12:00 AM

Saturday morning shoppers smiled when a local church greeted them with free doughnuts at Super 1 Foods in Coeur d’Alene.

Members of The Vine Church, one of the area’s newer ministries, handed out the sweet treats as part of a “Random Acts of Kindness” initiative The Vine started last summer.

“Our church is excited about coming to the Coeur d’Alene/Hayden area and serving the community here,” said Kevin Schultz, pastor of The Vine. “A simple thing like giving away free doughnuts gives us a chance to show our community that we care by doing acts of kindness like this. It was so much fun doing it, and it brought smiles to a lot of people. We plan on doing more acts of kindness like this in the months and years ahead.”

The Vine Church is a ministry and second site of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Spokane. The Vine’s Coeur d’Alene office is located at 5860 N. Rochelle Drive.
