TRUMP: Sounds like Otter

| February 19, 2017 12:00 AM

President Trump’s vigorous defense of Flynn and his criticism of the media for reporting illegal Flynn activities remind me of something that happened in Idaho a few years ago.

An animal rights group had released a secretly taken video of abuse of cattle at an Idaho dairy farm, and the farmer was enraged. In response, the Republican legislature quickly passed a bill making it illegal to secretly video abuse of cattle, which our governor, Butch Otter, quickly signed.

When signing the bill, the governor, himself a rancher, said, “My signature today reflects my confidence in (the farmer’s) desire to responsibly act in the best interest of the animals on which (their) livelihood depends.” This one didn’t stand up in court, however.

Now, as Flynn’s activities are being questioned, even amongst a few Republicans, it’s interesting to note that Trump isn’t objecting to Flynn’s apparently illegal activities, but that some person with knowledge about them squealed.
