SCHOOLS: Reasons for yes

Tuesday, March 14, is a very important day for us in Coeur d’Alene. This upcoming vote to determine if we’re going to support the renewal of the Maintenance and Operations Levy and the Construction Bond for the Coeur d’Alene School District. For both items, we have the opportunity to vote “yes” twice without raising our tax rates.

I am an eighth-grade teacher at Woodland Middle School, a mom of students in the district, and a voting patron. My love for students and our district runs deep. The M&O Levy would provide many opportunities for teachers and students. The Maintenance and Operations Levy dollars fund the day-to-day operations of educational programs and services, bridging the gap between funding provided by the state and the cost of meeting the educational opportunities our local community desires. The Levy is ESSENTIAL to fund critical programs and education needs beyond the basic funding from the state. By state law, M&O levies expire every two years, thus we must ask our community for a renewal to maintain our high level of service and programming for our students.

Vote yes for curriculum, textbooks and materials. Vote yes for student transportation. Vote yes for advanced academic support. Vote yes for technology! Vote yes on March 14, for our students.
