SCHOOLS: Vote 'yes' twice

| February 8, 2017 12:00 AM

I’d like to encourage our community to vote YES on March 14 in support of our schools. We are being presented with a tremendous opportunity to invest in our schools WITHOUT raising current tax rates, which are already among the lowest in the state.

Passage of the levy, which supports learning programs in our schools, is vital to the continued day-to-day operations of our district. Passage of the bond, which supports building costs, will provide for construction projects at the elementary through high school level, focusing on expansion and safety across multiple school sites.

Our district population, which has increased by more than 500 students in the past four years, is sure to continue increasing. As the district is unable to collect any type of impact fees from developers in order to pay for new schools, passage of this bond is necessary in order to have adequate and appropriate learning space for our growing student body.

Please support our schools and our community on March 14 by voting YES for both the levy and bond.
