POST FALLS — Trailing 31-12 after eight matches, the Post Falls Trojans won the last seven matches — six by pin — and beat the Coeur d’Alene Vikings 51-31 on Thursday night at The Arena.

Dom Jessos (98) won by decision and Hunter Schueller (106) won by major decision to give Coeur d’Alene its biggest lead of the night.

But Post Falls got pins from Ridge Lovett (113), A.J. De La Rosa (120) and Matt McLeod (126), a 3-0 decision from Mathias De La Rosa over Mitchell Moffat at 132, and pins from Jason Burchell (138), Braydon Huber (145) and Wyatt Shelly (152) to finish off the match.

“We knew they were going to pick up some wins early on starting at 160 (pounds) knowing they’ve got some tough guys at the upper weights,” Post Falls coach Pete Reardon said. “We knew we had to put some points on the board and the guys came out and took care of business.”

“I was real proud of my team; going into this we were heavy underdogs,” Coeur d’Alene coach Jeff Moffat said. “As coaches, all we asked them to do was go out and compete. From 113 to 152 they (the Trojans) are hard to beat, but we wrestled some good, scrappy matches.”

Post Falls wraps up the regular season next Wednesday, at home against Lake City.

Coeur d’Alene does the same next Thursday, at home vs. Lewiston.

Lakeland wins dual against foes from IML schools

RATHDRUM — Alex Edelblute (98 pounds), Sam Edelblute (106), William Edelblute (113), Tavis Woempner (120), Brian Edelblute (126), Christian Suko (138), Nathaneal Dansereau and Jared Walker (195) won by pin for the Hawks in a dual against a group of wrestlers from Priest River, Timberlake and Bonners Ferry at Hawk Court.

Scheduled to be a double dual, the event was changed to a dual between the Intermountain League schools against Lakeland.

“Some of those schools had some holes in their lineups and the forfeits along would have killed them,” Lakeland coach Rob Edelblute said. “It was senior night, so we held some kids out and highlighted our seniors and gave them a chance to get in and wrestle. All of them competed and wrestled hard.”

Alex Edelblute, Sam Edelblute, Larry Johnson and Jared Walker will compete in an all-star dual at Meridian High on Saturday. The rest of the Lakeland squad will compete at the Bonners Ferry Invitational today and Saturday.
