Vikings fall in wild one to Lewiston

LEWISTON — Despite a game-high 34 points from Joey Naccarato, the Coeur d’Alene Vikings fell to the Lewiston Bengals 88-82 in a 5A Inland Empire League game at Booth Hall on Tuesday.

Sam Matheson scored 14 points and Brody Lundblad added 10 points for Coeur d’Alene (8-8, 2-3 5A IEL), which beat Lewiston 67-65 in the school’s previous matchup on Jan. 20 at Coeur d’Alene High.

Trystan Bradley scored 26 points and Riley Way added 24 points for Lewiston (10-6, 2-2).

Coeur d’Alene plays at Post Falls on Saturday.

MOSCOW — Kaden Davis had 20 points and four assists and Dylan Vahey added 18 points and five assists for the Hawks in a 4A Inland Empire League win against the Bears at Bear Den.

Lakeland opened the fourth quarter on a 6-0 run and never trailed again as Vahey had three steals, resulting in points for Davis and Dylan Knight.

“We started the game out really well,” Lakeland assistant coach Bill Ryan said. “In the third and fourth quarter, we just had to grind it out.”

Josiah Haaland had four blocked shots and eight rebounds for Lakeland (6-12, 2-1 4A IEL), which hosts Timberlake on Feb. 11.

Cooper Stephens scored 16 of his 20 points in the first half for Moscow (6-7, 2-1), which travels to Lewiston tonight.

PLUMMER — Jonny Hillman scored 26 points and Stephane Manzi added 20 points as the Jaguars beat the Knights in a North Star League game at Ron Miller Court.

“It was 11-11 and they put out a press and we just did not stay in sync and tried to hurry the ball down the court,” Lakeside coach Bob Wolcott said. “Once they broke it open, they were shooting with confidence the rest of the night.”

Junior Williams scored 11 points for Genesis Prep (12-4, 7-0 NSL), which plays at Wallace tonight.

Takoda Abrahamson scored 11 points for Lakeside (4-9, 1-5), which hosts Mullan for senior night on Friday.

“We moved the ball really well and shot the ball really well,” Timberlake coach Michael Scott said. “We waited for some good, open shots and shot a good percentage. Clark Fork played hard, but had some illnesses and were missing some key players.”

Colton Counts scored eight points for Timberlake (7-4), which plays at St. Maries tonight.
