Finding the perfect gift for anyone can be trying. But if you were to ask someone suffering from pain what they would like more than anything, it would be to have relief from their pain. Some are relatively content with popping pills to control their symptoms, but many would rather not. Those don’t always know there are other solutions available to them. The best gift you could give is to educate them about an alternative that not only controls pain but is noted for the ability to help the body heal the underlying mechanism.

Acupuncture is known for this ability. Acupuncture is most recognized for two things: pain relief and addiction relief. But acupuncture can do so much more. If your pain is related to digestive problems, acupuncture, along with herbal medicine, whole food vitamin supplementation, and dietary guidance can help resolve the digestive issue causing the pain. We don’t just cover up the pain, like a pain pill does, we work to find out what went wrong in the first place and correct that.

If pain is because of an injury of any sort, acupuncture can help. It helps to release muscle spasms, clear inflammation and swelling and encourage healing of the tissue. Have an old chronic injury? It’s time to kick your body into gear and revitalize the healing mechanism. A recurrent statement we hear is “I’ve had this pain nearly all my life [or for many years], it feels weird now that it’s gone! — I can’t believe it’s gone!”

Your pain or aggravating condition may be as a result of an autoimmune or debilitating condition. Rheumatoid arthritis, polymyalgia, lupus, fibromyalgia, inflammatory bowel disorders, psoriasis, etc. Acupuncture can help. But how?

Acupuncture stimulates the release of neurotransmitters and neurohormones that alter nerve impulses and organ function to speed up the healing process. It basically changes brain chemistry. Acupuncture has a positive effect on immune system function, which, amongst other things, is responsible for healing. It releases natural pain-fighting endorphins and may also alter the perception of pain.

Contrary to expectation, acupuncture is not a painful process. People are so used to the typical hypodermic needles causing pain, but what is used for acupuncture is very different. They are very fine, like a horse hair. Placement is very different, and most people find it painless or “like a mosquito bite.” The greatest majority of people find that receiving acupuncture treatments is extremely relaxing and calming. They may have come in stressed to the max, but they leave feeling calm, in control and with a smile on their face.

For someone who is suffering, Acupuncture is the perfect gift! Struggle no longer to find what is in front of you, and give the gift of health!
