The in-ground concrete skate park will be constructed northwest of the proposed parking lot, near the corner of Northwest Boulevard and River Avenue. A second phase will be designed, but may or may not be constructed depending on available funding. Phase one of the skate park will be a plaza type design and include many of the popular skateboarding elements such as ramps, spines, steps, gaps, ledges and rails. A second phase would include a bowl feature. Local skaters will work with the park design team on the final layout plan. As part of the City park system, the skate park will close at dark and lighting will be installed for security purposes. All lighting, landscaping, spectator areas and appropriate signage are considered part of the project. An entry/exit ramp off of the Northwest Boulevard Commuter Trail shall be considered as an alternate access/exit point for skaters.
