HARASSMENT: Don't enable perps

| December 8, 2017 12:00 AM

You may be unaware or misinformed, but please let me enlighten you. Due to the nature of sexual harassment and sexual assault, the likelihood of a victim to falsely report is extremely rare. On average about 63 percent of people who are victims of sexual harassment or sexual assault report the crime. Out of that 63 percent, about 6 percent of these claims are false reports. Please let me reiterate, a little more than half of the victims report and less than 6 percent are false.

Not to mention, men who are victims of sexual harassment or sexual assault rarely or never report.

I ask you to please be open-minded and challenge you to become more informed and aware. Perpetrators’ insidious behavior is deep, dark and secretive. The article written by Steve Cameron, “But What if the Accused is Innocent?,” indirectly enables the perpetrators and silences the victims. This article greatly minimizes sexual deviant behavior.

#metoo movement is a forum for victims to address a crime that has gone unreported.
