Locals shine: Grant Potter of Hayden won the boys age 9-10 division at the Idaho Golf Association Junior State Championship on Aug. 15-16 at the McCall Golf Club.

Potter shot 9-hole rounds of 39 and 37 for a four-shot victory.

Cameron Johnson of Coeur d’Alene finished third in the boys 16-18 age group. He shots rounds of 78-70—148, five strokes behind the winner.

Cole Jaworski of Coeur d’Alene finished fourth in the boys age 13 division. He shot rounds of 76-82—158, seven strokes behind the winner.

SELECT SOCCER

Sting Timbers Boys ’03 Red: The Sting beat the Spokane Breakers 10-0 last Sunday.

River Engles had a had trick for the Sting. Walker Jump had 2 goals and 1 assist. Cooper Larson and Jack Shrontz each had 1 goal and 1 assist. Jameson Elliott and Byron Anderson had 1 goal each. Joseph Sarkis had 2 assists. Ashton Fredekind had 1 assist. Tyler Allred was in goal for the shutout.
