Maggie Holloway first felt the calling on her life, to spread the love of Jesus Christ, through the serving and walking alongside those in poverty, and especially children in need, when she was very young. This calling was realized at the age of 11, when her family joined a team that takes trips to Mexico over spring break, to build houses for those in extreme poverty.

After the first trip to El Florida, Mexico, she began taking Spanish classes throughout her remaining years of school, knowing that she would use the language, but not knowing yet to what extent.

Serving God through serving others has been her passion over the past six years. At the age of 16, it was confirmed that she was called specifically to serve in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. San Pedro Sula is not a place for the faint of heart. The U.S. Department of State issued a travel warning in January 2017 addressing San Pedro Sula specifically.

Maggie is undaunted. Knowing the direction her heart and life were guided toward and anxious to get started. She worked many hours this year at her job at Gross Donuts and took extra classes online to graduate with honors a year early. Maggie, now 17 years old, set out, with two friends, on her first trip to San Pedro Sula on July 18, paid for entirely with her own earnings, to serve at Heart of the City Church Honduras. Those Spanish language skills are coming in handy, and Maggie is doing what she loves to do best. She is sharing the love of Jesus Christ that has so impacted her own heart and life.
