STEM night a success

Fernan STEM Academy had the most amazing STEM night last week. The night was amazing because of the volunteers. We would love to thank the following business and individuals for their generous donations and time.

Thank you to John Morgan and Texas Roadhouse for your generous donation of dinner for our Fernan families. Thank you to the Thayer family for providing an abundance of rocks and your expertise for our students to explore and find fossils. Thank you to Astronaut John Phillips for giving our families a chance to meet an real astronaut. They loved talking with you and trying on your space glove.

Thank you to Blake and Valerie Nelson for bringing amazing animals and teaching our families about them. Thank you to Rhena Cooper from North Idaho College and her biology students for providing hands-on experiences for our families with biology. Thank you to Mobius Spokane for teaching students how to make slime. Thank you to Molly Jacobs from NIC helping facilitate our families’ experience in the planetarium. Thank you to Chris Regan from Canfield for showing our students your Lego robotics and teaching them how they work.

Finally, thank you to Jean Robinson for your engaging Messy Martian Meteorite Impacts. This was our most successful STEM night yet and we owe you so much gratitude for your time and donations. It is an amazing thing to watch families enjoy learning together.

Thank you from Fernan STEM Academy and the STEM Action Team.

‘Dinner in the Dark’ fundraiser helps blind

The Coeur d’Alene Lions Club would like to thank everyone for coming to our “Dinner in the Dark” fundraiser. You and our sponsors made it a huge success.

Our event was designed to show sighted people what being blind was like. We provided blindfolds and dinner. Of our 56 guests, six made it all the way through dinner without removing their blindfolds. We also had several silent auction and raffle items which raised a substantial amount of money. Thank you for sharing this experience with us and helping us help others. All money donated stays local and helps our community. Again thank you sponsors.
