POST FALLS — A Post Falls man wanted on felony warrants allegedly held a knife to his throat before police used a stun gun to detain him after a foot pursuit in Post Falls on Thursday.

Brandon F. Ross, 29, was detained in a pasture along 16th Avenue across from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints around 12:15 p.m. following a half-hour foot chase that began on 12th Avenue.

Ross, who was wanted on a $50,000 warrant for failure to appear for grand theft of a financial transaction card and a combined $50,000 warrant for possession of a controlled substance and drug possession with intent to deliver, was transported to Kootenai Health for evaluation after complaining of side pain.

"He was reported to be suspiciously running through yards on 12th Avenue," Post Falls police Capt. Greg McLean said of the initial call. "When officers arrived, he took off running."

McLean said it appeared that Ross was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. He said Ross held a pocket knife to his throat when officers approached him in the pasture.

"That's when the stun gun was used," McLean said.

McLean said it appeared only one probe connected to the suspect's body as he was wearing a thick sweatshirt.

The officers involved were not injured.

Ross was expected to be transported to the Kootenai County jail after the medical evaluation at the hospital.
