Lisa Shellman, 54

Lisa was born April 3, 1963, in Rochester, Minn., to Lee and Becky (Sieveke) Shellman. She passed away peacefully April 18, 2017, at the Schneidmiller House after a brief, yet valiant fight against cancer.

Carrying baby dolls around her entire childhood was an indication of things to come, as Lisa helped give life to thousands of newborn babies in the NICU at Sacred Heart Medical Center over the course of her life. Her compassion for the families helped ease their angst in their time of need.

Having grown up spending summers at Hayden Lake, it remained one of her favorite places to share stories with friends and family. The greatest joy of her life was her daughter, Kierstie, who she adopted from India. They enjoyed years of traveling for various sports, and Lisa never missed one competition. Lisa could really light up a room, which was very evident at Kierstie’s wedding a few weeks ago, which she claimed to be the second best day of her life, second only to the day Kierstie arrived.

Lisa cherished the many friends she made over the years, from her days growing up on Cherry Hill to her friends at Coeur d’Alene High School, Whitworth, and her 30 years at Sacred Heart.

Lisa was preceded in death by her father, Lee. She is survived by her mother, Becky Shellman; daughter Kierstie Shellman-Renninger (Tyler); brother Scott (Betsy); sister Amy; and nephews Kurtis, Casey, Dylan, Mitchell and Christian.

Lisa and her family wish to thank her many friends for their support through this short battle. We’re ever so grateful to the caregivers at Schneidmiller House who comforted Lisa during her final days. In lieu of flowers, her wish was for donations to support Hospice of North Idaho, 9493 N. Government Way, Hayden, ID 83835.

A viewing will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, April 27, 2017, at Yates Funeral Home, 744 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene. A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Friday, April 28, 2017, at First Presbyterian Church in Coeur d’Alene with a reception to follow. Burial will be at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens.
