Make time for fine wine

COEUR d’ALENE — A weekend filled with bubbly brunches and delectable dinners? Sure, "wine" not!

Treat yourself to fine wining and dining Friday, Saturday and Sunday during the sixth annual Wine Extravaganza.

Organized by the Coeur d'Alene Downtown Association and The Coeur d'Alene Resort, the Wine Extravaganza will feature 65 different wines from 20 different wineries and several special events.

"Wine Extravaganza is downtown Coeur d’Alene’s spring kick-off event," said Emily Boyd, event coordinator for the Downtown Association. "Everyone is excited to come out of hibernation and enjoy the nice weather, get together with their friends and wander through local downtown businesses while sipping various types of wine."

The events begin with the Wine Extravaganza Lake Cruise at 6 p.m. Friday. Tasty morsels and wines from J. Lohr Winery will be served. Tickets are $50.

Beverly's will host Duckhorn Wine-Pairing Dinners on Friday and Saturday beginning with social time at 6 p.m. The dinners will include six courses. Reservations can be made by calling 765-2300 ext. 23.

The Wine Extravaganza Tasting event will be from 3-7 p.m. Saturday in The Resort Plaza Shops. Tickets are $15 and include six wine tasting samples and a signature wine glass.

Treveri Cellars will have a representative on site to pour sparkling wine for $6 per glass during the Wine Extravaganza Sunday Brunch. The brunch goes from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Dockside restaurant.

"The Coeur d’Alene Downtown Association is obviously a huge supporter of shopping local, so to be able to expand out from the downtown core and bring local wineries in to share with our community, who will hopefully do business with them later down the road, is really exciting," Boyd said. "The popularity of this event continues to grow, so be sure to purchase your tickets online."
