COEUR d’ALENE — Traffic changes are still coming to Seltice Way, but not until next week.

The lane closures and shifts that were slated to begin at the start of this work week have been pushed out to Monday, April 17, as the roadway’s north side is patched up to provide better travel for motorists during the $5.44 million Seltice Way revitalization.

A city of Coeur d’Alene public works project, the revitalization will provide for a new streetscape, roundabouts at Grand Mill Lane/Idewild Loop and Atlas Road, bike lanes and shared-use paths, as well as upgraded water and wastewater utilities between Huetter Road and Northwest Boulevard. The work, which is weather-dependent, is expected to continue into the first quarter of 2018.

During the first phase of the project, expected to run until mid-July, traffic will be shifted to the north lanes of Seltice Way and reduced to one lane in each direction. This will allow for construction to be focused on the south side lanes. Traffic will shift to the southern Seltice Way lanes for the second phase.

To minimize conflicts with construction work, the intersection of Grand Mill Lane and Seltice Way will be closed during Phase I. Those living, visiting, and working in the Mill River area should use Huetter Road to access Seltice Way. Access to Idewild Loop will remain open.

The project contractor, T. LaRiviere, will keep businesses and residents affected by the Grand Mill Lane closure informed.

During both phases of construction, work will occur at roundabouts planned for Grand Mill Lane and Atlas Road. Short and varying shifts in traffic should be expected in these areas. All traffic lanes will be clearly marked for motorists, and caution is urged within the construction zone.

Access to property will be maintained during all phases of construction. However, there will be times when those areas are accessed via temporary drive lanes and driveways.
