Scott Shadwick, 62

| September 30, 2016 9:00 PM

Born on March 23, 1954, in San Bernardino, Calif., Scott Shadwick, AKA Bubba, went to be with Jesus on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, around 8:30 p.m. from heart failure.

His father, Lloyd Shadwick, preceded him in death, and he is survived by his mother, Adrienne Shadwick (86); and his sister, Jodee Shadwick Stratton (53). He loved his dog and cat, and they were curled up with him at the end.

Bubba was a kind soul. He would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it and would tease you mercilessly afterward. He often said, “If I don’t tease you, I don’t like you.” Bubba Scott, as some of his friends called him, loved fishing, hunting, horses and anything outdoors. He didn’t know a stranger, and those that understood his special personality understood what an amazing person he was. He asked Jesus to come into his heart and forgive his sins at a young age, and his life demonstrated his faith in God and the values he held to. At one time, Bubba helped with the sound at his church, and he may be remembered as the egg guy at Candlelight Christian Fellowship where he was a member.

Scott was the historian for the Kootenai County Mounted Sheriff’s Posse for a number of years and enjoyed being a part of the search and rescue team while his dad was still alive. Throughout his life, Bubba was a part of a traveling archery team, helped with a cattle round-up in the hills of northern California, memorized numbers of Bible verses and was a “white-foot” camp counselor for (B)ible (M)emory (A)ssociation many, many summers.

Bubba was scuba certified, and also worked for a fish hatchery while living in Hesperia, Calif. He ran his own lawn business before moving to Idaho where he found his “second home” — at work. He loved his co-workers and would rather go to work than take sick days or vacation time off. Scott last worked for Transtector Systems in Hayden, Idaho, working line assembly. He was always early and looked forward to the potluck lunch group at work and the different restaurants he and his friends would test throughout Coeur d’Alene and Spokane.

We will surely miss his humor, loyalty, valor and values.

Bubba’s memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2016, at Candlelight Christian Fellowship, 5725 N. Pioneer Drive, Coeur d’Alene (off Highway 95). We would love for his family and friends to attend. Please visit Bubba’s online memorial and sign his guest book at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
