POLL: Flawed and frustrating

| September 16, 2016 9:00 PM

It is a disgrace that your online election poll only gives three choices: “Trump, Clinton, or Mickey Mouse.” By failing to give realistic coverage to leading third party candidates such as Gary Johnson and Jill Stein you are failing in your basic journalistic duty to inform the public. For this reason it is looking doubtful that any third party candidate will break the 15 percent threshold in national polling that is required in order to participate in the debates.

In your small way you are contributing to us all being robbed of our ability to make an informed decision. By including Mickey Mouse you have acknowledged that you are aware most of the electorate is disgusted with the two main candidates. So why don’t you provide some of the other options? The Republicans and Democrats have failed us by catering to the extremes on both sides. There is no reason that we should continue to let them pick our leaders, nor be forced to pick between two people who display a serious lack of judgment. More than politics, it is judgment that is the key qualification of a president; the ability when presented with unforeseen events to weigh facts objectively and make the best decision regardless of personal gain. Neither can be trusted in this regard.

Please inform your readership of the other options available to them. The lesser of two evils is still evil; and that’s not the way the greatest nation on Earth should pick its leaders.
