POST FALLS — After a couple of adjustments to the lineup, things are starting to click at the right time for the Post Falls boys soccer team.

Three different Trojan players had goals, with Diego Esquivel recording a goal and an assist in a 3-2 5A Inland Empire League win against the Lake City Timberwolves on Tuesday at Post Falls High.

“We switched a couple of things around in our lineup and it has really helped our attack,” Post Falls coach Gabe Lawson said. “Things are really starting to click. When we’re holding onto the ball for 60 minutes in a match, we’re learning to create some opportunities. We went after it today, and the boys played fabulous. It’s just been a matter of things clicking into place and finding the right spot on the field. It was a very, very solid performance.”

Nick Morris and Damon Gilmor also scored for Post Falls (2-2-3, 2-1-1 5A IEL), which hosts Lakeland on Thursday.

Dakota Curtis and Cole Fawcett scored for Lake City (3-3, 2-2), which travels to Sandpoint on Monday.

Kobe Harris opened the scoring for Timberlake and Jestin Hoefer tied the match in the 53rd minute — both on assists from Cody Bentley — for Timberlake (5-2-1, 2-1-1 IML), which hosts Priest River tonight.

COEUR d’ALENE — Havana Johnson recorded a hat trick and had two assists and Lily Scott had two goals and two assists to lead the Timberwolves past the Trojans in a 5A Inland Empire League match at the Irma Anderl Soccer Complex at Lake City High.

“Obviously, Post Falls is a shell of what they were in the first game of the year (a 3-1 Lake City win on Sept. 1),” Lake City coach Matt Ruchti said. “They’re still missing some starters due to injury, including their goalkeeper, which really made a difference today. As far as connecting goes, our last match we played against Lewiston, I thought we were a little selfish. But tonight, we connected a lot of passes and that really helped. We had a goal not to allow any goals and it was a great team effort, which was something we’ve needed.”

Lake City (5-1-1, 2-0-1 5A IEL) hosts Mead today.
