PREP VOLLEYBALL: Cd'A third at Lakeland invite
Mead defeated Lewiston 21-25, 25-21, 15-6 in the Gold Division championship match of the 24-team Lakeland Invitational on Saturday.
Coeur d’Alene finished third in the Gold Division. The Vikings defeated the Mead junior varsity 25-17, 25-8 and Bonners Ferry 25-22, 25-13, lost to the Mead varsity 25-16, 20-25, 15-12, beat Walla Walla 25-12, 25-17 and lost to Lewiston 14-25, 25-20, 15-9.
Ali Williams had 45 kills, 38 assists and 15 digs on the day for Coeur d’Alene (5-4), which visits Lakeland on Monday. Delaney Schmidt had 36 kills and 17 digs, Kelly Horning 17 kills and nine blocks, Carli Daniels 10 kills and nine aces, Sam Swayze 36 digs, Isabella Hollibaugh six aces and 16 digs.
Post Falls placed fifth in the Gold Division, going 5-1. St. Maries (4-3) finished sixth.
Allison Munday had 39 kills and 25 digs for the Trojans (9-3). Courtney Finney had 54 assists, Macky Morris 34 digs and nine aces, Cassidy Jackson 17 blocks and Sam Hammond nine aces.
“Our girls played hard and only struggled in one match,” Post Falls coach Matt Barkley said. “It was a long day and I’m proud of how well everyone played.”
Sandpoint won the Silver Division, beating Ferris 25-16, 25-23 in the championship match.
Mead’s junior varsity won the Bronze Division, beating Reardan 25-16, 19-25, 15-8.
