Darryl Rholl, 74

| September 11, 2016 9:00 PM

Darryl Rholl, 74, of Twin Lakes Village, passed into the arms of his Lord on Sept. 3, 2016, after a short bout with pancreatic cancer. It was very peaceful and his wife was at his side.

Darryl was born June 18, 1942, in Mason City, Iowa, to Orville and Vivian Rholl. He spent his childhood in Keokuk and Spencer, Iowa. The family moved to Lexington, Neb., where he graduated from high school. He then graduated with a B.S. in nursing from Dana College and Nebraska Methodist College of Nursing in 1965. He went on to graduate as a CRNA from St. Cloud Hospital School of Anesthesia in 1967.

He met his wife, Ann, while in college and they married in 1966. Recently, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. After he finished his education, they both joined the Air Force and served from 1967 to 1969. They then moved to Kennewick, Wash., where he was an anesthetist at Kennewick General Hospital. They started their family with son Jeff, in 1970 and daughter Trisha, in 1971. During this time, Darryl enjoyed family, camping, dirt bike riding and skiing. He was a member of Kennewick First Lutheran Church where he was involved with youth activities and in 1975 they sponsored a Vietnamese family who were a blessing and quickly became part of the family.

Darryl moved to the Coeur d’Alene area in 1989 to accept a position at North Idaho Day Surgery and later worked at Northwest Specialty Hospital until retiring in 2002. He belonged to the Goldwing Motorcycle Club and enjoyed many fun trips with friends. He also had classic motorcycles that required lots of tinkering and restoring. After moving to Twin Lakes Village in 2002, he began golfing and participating in their many activities. He was known around the village for his love of all animals and “dog-sat” many of his neighbor’s pets. His helpful ways and friendly spirit will be missed by all in the Village.

He was active at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, quietly helping with various projects around the church. He volunteered with Relay for Life, Christmas for All and other charitable causes. He will be remembered as a man of integrity; generous with his time and talents. His life reflected hard work, commitment and honesty. He loved all types of music and could name most songs and the original artist. He enjoyed rooting at his kids and granddaughters soccer games; loved college basketball and the Zags.

Darryl is survived by his loving wife, Ann; son Jeffrey Rholl; daughter Trisha Hanson (Jim); three granddaughters, Brittny Arceneaux (Tyler); Courtny Hanson and Kylie Hanson; his brother, Gary Rholl (Marilyn) of Eugene, Ore.; and three nieces and three nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and father.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016, at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 13541 W. Highway 53, Rathdrum, Idaho. A luncheon reception will follow.

The family prefers memorial donations to Hospice of North Idaho, 9493 N. Government Way, Hayden, ID 83835 or Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 13541 W. Hwy 53, Rathdrum, ID 83858.
