Vikings set for third game in three states

The Coeur d’Alene Vikings (1-1) play their third game in a 13-day stretch today, and their third game in three states, facing Mead (1-0) of the Greater Spokane League at 5 p.m. at Joe Albi Stadium in Spokane.
Mead, picked to finish third in the 4A GSL, defeated Post Falls 41-3 last week. Coeur d’Alene handled Central Valley, picked to finish second in the 4A GSL, 47-11 last Friday. The Vikings opened the season at Folsom (Calif.) on Aug. 27.
Coeur d’Alene last played at Albi in 2014, beating Ferris 31-8.
The rest of the high school football slate involving local teams takes place Friday.
Lake City (1-1) at Central Valley (0-1): The Timberwolves bounced back from an opening-week loss by hammering Lewis and Clark 51-6 last week.
University (1-0) at Post Falls (1-1): It’s the home opener for the Trojans. University won 13-10 at Sandpoint last week, in a game delayed some 90 minutes by lightning. Post Falls won 22-7 at Sandpoint in the season opener. The Trojans lost 14-7 at University last year.
East Valley (0-1) at Lakeland (1-1): The Knights opened with a 14-6 loss to North Central. The Hawks followed up a 44-0 win over Bonners Ferry with a 7-6 setback at Colville. East Valley won 56-22 at Lakeland last year.
Timberlake (0-2) at Moscow (1-1): The Bears beat Grangeville 18-15 and lost to Clarkston 22-21.
The teams last met in 2013, with Timberlake winning 14-6 at home.
Timberlake is off to an 0-2 start for the first time since 2010.
St. Maries (2-0) at Deer Park (1-0): The Lumberjacks are ranked No. 2 in 2A in the latest Idaho media poll. The Stags opened last week with a 23-0 blanking of Rogers at Albi Stadium.
Lakeside (0-1, 0-1 White Star League) at Clark Fork (1-0, 1-1): The Knights lost 58-12 to Kendrick in last week’s opener. The Wampus Cats beat White Star foe Timberline 32-8 in their opener, then lost to Clark Fork (the Montana version) 52-18 last week.
Kootenai (0-1, 0-1) at Timberline (0-2, 0-2): The Warriors had a bye last week, after losing 44-34 at Lewis County in the opener. Timberline lost to Lewis County 32-28 last week.
