<p>More than 1,300 athletes from around the world gathered on Coeur d'Alene's City Beach on the morning of August 21, 2016 for the start of the 14th annual Ironman Coeur d'Alene triathlon. Participants were challenged to a 2.4-mile open water swim in Lake Coeur d'Alene, followed by a 122-mile bike ride and finishing the race with a 26.2-mile run. Thousands of spectators cheered on the athletes as they raced through the 94-degree weather for the event.</p>
