PREP ROUNDUP: Moses Lake tops shorthanded Trojans

POST FALLS — Playing without six starters either due to injury or the holiday weekend, the Post Falls Trojans came up short in a 6-1 loss to the Moses Lake Chiefs on Saturday at Post Falls High.
“Four of the girls that started haven’t played maybe 10 minutes the entire season,” Post Falls coach Steve Mills said. “Between injuries and the holiday weekend, we only had two subs.”
Rickie Colosimo scored in the first half for Post Falls (1-3-1), which hosts Coeur d’Alene in a 5A Inland Empire League match on Tuesday.
“The score really wasn’t the issue, but just trying to ask the girls to step up and play in a varsity role, that by itself was pretty inspiring,” Mills said. “Some of them didn’t think they’d have to play more than a few minutes or just be a player on the field, and they did really well.”

NAPLES — Coeur d’Alene Charter senior Landon Chang won the boys race in 16 minutes, 44 seconds, helping the Panther boys finish with a perfect score to claim the team title at the Bonners Ferry Invitational.
Coeur d’Alene Charter, which moved up to the 3A classification this year, also saw Tess McPhilomy win the girls race.
