MILAN: She'll spend wisely

| October 21, 2016 9:00 PM

Kristi Milan is one of the first people I got to know after moving to Kootenai County two years ago. The causes that she champions are also the causes I consider important to the well-being of our community.

I retired from the timber industry in North Idaho. My money is hard earned and I’m careful in how I spend it. Taxes are a burden, but it is important to support my community and state. Some of the highest tax expenditures in our immediate area are for expansion of jails, law enforcement buildings, and parking lots. I recognize our community needs sound infrastructure.

But, as a taxpayer, I also want to see tax dollars invested in programs that return money to the community and state. I want my representative in Boise to vote for programs that invest in the future. Education is tops on my list; let’s educate and not incarcerate. I support the management of our state timber resources, which support our schools; an investment in recreation resources enhances tourism spending, and contributes to our tax revenues. I want a representative who will intelligently debate the issues and work toward a consensus that everyone can vote “yes” on. Again, I would like a return on my investments. Kristi Milan will fight to protect my interests. Please join me and VOTE Milan, District 4 Senate position on November 8th.
