| October 19, 2016 9:00 PM

Jerome Martin Agre was welcomed to Heaven Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016, at the age of 90. Jerome was born Sept. 29, 1926, in Greenbush, Minn., into a family with six children, two sisters and four brothers: Anna, Ole, Jerome, Edward, George and Marie.

Jerome finished high school in Green Bush. Following high school, Jerome and his brother took over a family dairy business until Jerome was drafted into the Army. Jerome was an officer in the Army stationed in Germany, working to repair roads and infrastructure.

While stationed in Germany, he met Nicky and married her in 1953. They had six children: Linda, Jerry Jr., Martin, Chelly, Jason and Jamie. Jerry and Nicky raised their family in Anchorage where Jerry worked in construction, operating heavy equipment and helped build the Seward Highway. Later, he went on to work for Encyclopedia Britannica where he was the statewide sales director for the state of Alaska.

After his marriage to Nicky ended in the late 1960s, he met Donna Johnston while passing through Coeur d’Alene to visit a friend. They married in 1972 and moved to Anchorage to start a janitorial business. They went on to have one child, Sharelynn, while remaining very close to Donna’s daughter Sharon and her family. They later lived in Escondido, Calif., where he owned a fertilizing and lawn care business. They left California in the early 1980s to relocate to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Jerome spent 25 years working for Yates Funeral Home where he did various jobs.

Jerry and Donna retired in Post Falls, Idaho. The love of his life, Donna, passed away in 2004. Jerry spent the remaining years with his dear sister, Anna. They lived side by side at Life Care Center of Post Falls where they received excellent care and have made many friends.

Jerry is survived by his sister, Anna Comeau and his children, Linda Brooks, Martin and Janet Agre, Chelly Agre, Jason Agre, Jamie and Olin Agre, Sharon and Vern Severtson, and Sharelynn and Jason Moore. Jerome also leaves several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016, at Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d’Alene Chapel. Burial will be at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens. You may visit Jerry’s online memorial and sign his guest book at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
