Input sought for Riverstone art project
COEUR d'ALENE — Members of the public are invited to provide input on a new public art piece, which will be installed in Coeur d'Alene at Riverstone Park.
Three maquettes — miniature versions of the potential art — are on display at the Coeur d'Alene Public Library, located at 702 E. Front Ave., to allow for feedback. Members of the community are encouraged by city officials, as well as the city's arts commission, to submit a ballot after viewing the three pieces.
Voting, according to a press release from the city, will be open through Oct. 10.
The $69,000 piece, which is entirely funded by a contribution to the city's public art budget from ignite cda, will be placed in a 400-square-foot-area northwest of the Riverstone Park parking lot on greenspace near the pond. The city's urban renewal agency, ignite cda, gives 2 percent of its annual budget back to the city for public art and, according to the release, the new art is expected to be installed by April 7, 2017.
