Have you seen Ebin?

Losing a dog is always heart-breaking, but for Samantha Agate of Post Falls, it has been particularly devastating.

The woman’s dog, Ebin, went missing in Post Falls around 10 p.m. Friday.

The loss of the pooch comes just a few months after Agate suffered two other life-altering losses: Her sister died in July and her longtime boyfriend left her the next day. Together for 15 years, Agate lived with her boyfriend in a home the couple owned.

“And now the dog, my only companion and the unconditional love in my life has gone missing too,” Agate said.

She adopted Ebin, her “only fur child as I don’t have children of my own,” from the Kootenai Humane Society seven years ago when the animal was just five weeks old. The dog should have a collar on with Agate’s phone number on it, and Ebin has a microchip.

Agate is offering a $500 reward for the safe return of Ebin, and Power of the Paw, a local nonprofit that seeks homes for animals, is offering another $100.

Ebin has several behaviors that could help identifying him. The dog doesn’t lift his leg to urinate, because he was neutered at an early age, and he loves all animals but shys away from adults. A photo of the dog indicates anyone who sees him should approach him slowly, and not chase him.

Anyone who knows the dog’s whereabouts is asked to call Agate at (208) 661-4738.
