Greg Gfeller announced his candidacy for the North Idaho College Board of Trustees, Zone 3 seat, in the upcoming Nov. 8 election.

He is challenging incumbent Todd Banducci.

“If elected to the NIC Board, I will bring 38 years of business experience and community service to the position as the board works with the employees, students, and the larger community to provide quality education for the academic, career technical, and workforce training programs as well as recognizing the need to adjust to an ever-changing economy. My emphasis would be for NIC to partner with others to create a thriving economy that provides better-paying jobs for our citizens,” Gfeller said in his announcement.

Gfeller has worked for Avista Utilities Corp. for the past 38 years, commencing his employment in 1978 as a gas crewman digging ditches for gas lines. Over the years, he has held various management positions with the company and since 2010, he has been director of operations for Avista’s east region.

Gfeller is active in many civic organizations, including Post Falls Rotary and the Post Falls and Rathdrum chambers of commerce, and was a charter member of Ponderay Rotary. He is a trustee with Idaho Business for Education and represents the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association to The Coeur d’Alene Airport Advisory Board, and is a past Kootenai County Planning and Zoning commissioner. He is a member of Calvary Lutheran Church. Gfeller holds an M.A. degree from Gonzaga University in organizational leadership.

He has been married for 39 years and has two children.
