Lewiston d. Sandpoint

LEWISTON — Laney Search posted a triple-double in defeat with 10 kills, 18 digs and 12 assists, but the Bulldogs could not close a set in a 25-21, 25-18, 25-22 loss to the Bengals at Booth Hall.

McCalee Cain tallied 13 assists, nine digs and two aces as the second setter for the Bulldogs (15-8), who could never find a consistent rhythm in the attack.

Sandpoint coach Erin Roos admitted her team struggled in a tough road match against a solid Bengals’ block.

“We served well, and the passing is getting better,” said Roos, whose team played three 5A opponents (Post Falls, Lake City, Lewiston) in its last three matches. “However, our setting was inconsistent and several attackers had a difficult time scoring. We’re looking forward to having two practices in a row to work some kinks out.”

Sandpoint is at Coeur d’Alene on Tuesday.
