Charles W. “Chuck” Cadle, 79, of Pullman, Wash., died Nov. 22, 2016, at his Pullman home. Charles was born Jan. 22, 1937, in Berkeley, Calif., to Lawrence and Olive (Schmidt) Cadle.

He grew up in the wine country around Berkeley, graduating from Sanoma Valley High School. Chuck enlisted in the U.S. Army following high school and served four years both abroad and on U.S. soil. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to California, working for a time for area wine companies.

Chuck attended computer school in New York. Chuck began his computer career at the GE plant in Phoenix, Ariz., in 1964 as a technician, helping to develop General Electric’s first mainframe computer system. He then transferred to the Phoenix District, working on customer computer systems as a Field Engineer before being promoted to Specialist. After the sale of GE’s Computer Business to Honeywell in 1971, Chuck transferred to San Jose, Calif. Chuck provided support to GE’s largest computer system on the west coast and for his excellent support, was promoted to District Manager. After a few years as District Manager, Chuck was promoted to Regional Systems Support Manager, and held that position until he retired in 1992.

Following his retirement Chuck moved to Hayden Lake, Idaho. It was there that he met Mary Lou Berry and the couple married on Sept. 14, 2002, in Colfax, Wash. Together they have made their home on the family farm near Pullman. Chuck enjoyed life, especially spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His interests were many including hunting (duck), fishing, computers, sports of all types, golf and being a devoted Cougar fan. Much of his time was spent mowing his lawn on his tractor.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou, at the Pullman home; daughter Kimberly and son Larry; two stepdaughters, Jodi (Brian) Wernecke and Debbie (Mike) Yates; brother Fred Cadle; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Olive Cadle; and his son, Jeff Cadle.

A private family service will be held in the spring of 2017. Kimball Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to www.kimballfh.com.
