John C. 'Jack' Orr, 82

| November 27, 2016 8:00 PM

Jack passed peacefully from this life on Nov. 21, 2016, at North Idaho Advanced Care Hospital. His wife and children were by his side.

Born Jan. 22, 1934, in Spokane to Ivan E. Orr and Agnes (Gill) Orr. He spent his entire youth on S. 15th Street in Coeur d’Alene — attended 12 years at IHM Academy then what was then NIJC till he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Jack was proud of his 23 years of distinguished service, retiring in 1976. Back in Coeur d’Alene, he worked at N.W. Plumbing and KC Construction until his second retirement in 1999.

Jack married Mary Kay Wiley in 1956. They had three children: Desiree, Greg and Gill. He married Donna (Harris) Porter in 1983 and welcomed her children, Clark (deceased) and Cindy. Together they were blessed with a son, Kevin.

After retirement, Jack and Donna traveled extensively in their motor home through the U.S. Canada and Mexico. They joined a Winnebago/Itasca travel club where they made many treasured friends.

During winters in Arizona Jack was able to devote more time to his lifelong passion — golf.

The couple returned to Coeur d’Alene in the spring of 2012. Failing health forced Jack to give up the vagabond lifestyle, but he spent the rest of his life enjoying his grandchildren, Brett, Christina, Jazzeck, Connor, Angelica Brodie and Avery; and eight great-grandchildren.

To Jack’s last breath, his only wish was for his family and the whole world to be safe and happy. What a man.
