PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL: Consistent Lumberjacks top Hawks
ST. MARIES — Kelsey Auer had 19 points, six rebounds and four assists for the St. Maries Lumberjacks in a 61-27 win over the Lakeland Hawks on Tuesday.
“We played pretty consistent all game,” St. Maries coach Jay Sines said. “Scoring-wise, I think we did a good job the whole game of spreading the ball around. Defensively, I thought we played pretty well. Our half-court defense did really well.”
Devyn Wilson had six points and six rebounds, Paige Sines five assists and Shelby Holder 11 points and four steals for St. Maries (3-0), which hosts Wallace next Tuesday.
“Kelsey had a good night on the offensive end,” Sines said. “She had a good night.”
Tauna Kirk scored 13 points for Lakeland (0-2), which hosts Rogers next Tuesday.

SANDPOINT — Nina Carlson scored a game-high 25 points and 11 rebounds as the Timberwolves beat the Bulldogs at Les Rogers Court.
Carlson, who recently signed with Idaho, hit four 3-pointers for Lake City, which finished 11-for-11 from the free throw line.
Lauren Rewers, who signed with Hawaii, added eight points for Lake City (2-0), which hosts East Valley next Tuesday.
Grace Kirscher had 18 points and seven rebounds for Sandpoint (0-3).

COEUR d’ALENE — Freshmen Sandy Faulkner, Julia Haag and Imelda Bresee combined for 24 rebounds, 15 points, six blocked shots and six steals as the Panthers beat the Tigers at Holy Family Catholic School.
Mae Alexander scored 12 points and Kelly Ruebke added 11 for Coeur d’Alene Charter (2-0), which opens Intermountain League play next Tuesday, hosting Kellogg at Holy Family.
“Both Mae and Kelly got into double figures, and we’ll need them to do that every night,” Coeur d’Alene Charter coach Doug Grant said. “But a lot of the work was done by those freshmen tonight. They’re doing the hard work and getting the ball to the seniors (Alexander and Ruebke).”
