Louie-McGee in running for
FCS award
Montana walk-on wide receiver and former Lake City High standout Jerry Louie-McGee is one of 23 finalists for the Football Championship Subdivision Freshman of the Year award.
Louie-McGee (5-foot-9, 160 pounds) set team records with 21 catches in Montana’s game at Cal Poly and with his average of 8.9 catches per game is 10 catches short of breaking Joe Douglass’ school record of 82 receptions in a season, despite missing three games. He also had an 81-yard punt return for a touchdown against Northern Iowa and 275 all-purpose yards against Cal Poly.
The Jerry Rice Award, given by STATS, will be announced at the national awards banquet on Jan. 6, the night before the national title game in Frisco, Texas.

Winter CARDnival
The North Idaho College booster club will host its Winter CARDnival and Auction on Wednesday, Dec. 14 at the Best Western — Coeur d’Alene Inn, located at 506 W. Appleway Ave. in Coeur d’Alene.
The event begins at 5 p.m. with a social hour, with games and the start of the silent auction, which includes Hawaii and Las Vegas vacation packages, resort golf outings, Gonzaga basketball tickets, ski packages, custom jewelry/art, special dinner packages, holiday gifts and more. Dinner starts at 6:30 and the live auction starts at 7.
Tickets are $30 per person, or $250 for a table of eight.

Idaho’s Sanders earns Big Sky
Player of the Week
MOSCOW — Junior guard Victor Sanders has been recognized by the Big Sky Conference for his play last week, earning Big Sky Player of the Week after averaging 21 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game last week as the Vandals went 2-1 during nonconference play.
Sanders finished with 20 points against Little Rocky with Perrion Callandret out, playing a career-high 38 minutes.
Sanders followed that up against another NCAA tournament participant South Dakota State on Monday, scoring 29 points on 9-of-16 shooting, including four 3-pointers and four assists. Sanders also tied a career-high with three steals and had one block in the Vandals’ 96-89 win in overtime against South Dakota State in Moscow.
