Lois Ruth Lyon, 75

| November 23, 2016 8:00 PM

Lois Ruth Lyon, of Rathdrum, Idaho, passed away Nov. 17, 2016, at Lacrosse Health and Rehab in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Her room was filled with loving family. She was born on Sept. 2, 1941, to Charlie and Hazel Simpson in Spokane, Wash. At a very young age, her family moved to Rathdrum where she later married the love of her life, Herbert Lyon, and raised their four children and one grandson.

Lois loved the holidays and being together with family. Family was always her priority and focus, and she always believed in family coming first. She was always full of life. She loved playing cards, reading westerns, fishing, gardening, and had a special place in her heart for loving animals. She knitted hats and donated them to cancer patients. She also volunteered with Special Olympics and belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary in Rathdrum. She was a fun loving, caring and thoughtful person who had a good sense of humor and loved good jokes and pranks.

Lois is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Lyon; daughter Peggy Lyon; parents Charlie and Hazel Simpson; brothers Gene Simpson and Jim Simpson; and sister Fern Tuttle. She is survived by her son, Jeff and Wanda Lyon; daughters Mary Lou and Glenn Shute, Elizabeth (Lisa) and Gary Milan; grandson she raised Jeremiah and Cindy Freer; brothers Cody and Jill Simpson, and Bob Simpson; sister Rita Daugherty; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

We will be holding a memorial service at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016, at the Rathdrum Lions Club, followed by a potluck.

A special thank you to Lacrosse Health and Rehab and Hospice for their excellent care.
