James 'Jim' Edward Yanzick, 93
James “Jim” Edward Yanzick, 93, of Pinehurst, Idaho, passed away Nov. 17, 2016, at Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. He was born June 25, 1923, in Wallace, Idaho. Jim was the son of John and Dorothy (Baldwin) Yanzick.
Jim was raised in the Silver Valley, attended school and lived there all of his life. Jim joined the United States Air Force and served in World War II as a top gunner. He was the recipient of several medals including the Purple Heart, Air Medal, 3 Oak Leaf Clusters and Distinguished Flying Cross.
Jim married Phyllis Linville in the late 1940s and together they had two children; they later divorced. He was united in marriage to Jane Day in 1983 and they were together until her death in 1994.
Jim was the owner of a log truck and worked in that industry until his retirement in his 70s.
Jim is survived by his son, Bumper (Debbie) Yanzick of Cataldo, Idaho; and one grandson, Garrett Yanzick of Selah, Wash. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Sammie Jo Yanzick; his wife, Jane; his baby sister, Evelyn May; and his brothers, Jack and Duck Yanzick.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016, at Cochrane’s “BIG RED BARN,” at the corner of Meadow and E. Doyle Road, Cataldo (Rose Lake).
Interment was held at Shoshone Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to thank the staff at Bristol Heights Assisted Living and Hospice of North Idaho for their loving and thoughtful care of Jim.
