COEUR d’ALENE — Bridget Rieken had 13 points and 18 rebounds and Lauren Rewers added 17 points as the Lake City Timberwolves opened their season by beating the visiting Sandpoint Bulldogs 57-28 on Thursday night.

“For our first game, I thought we did a good job of getting rid of the first half jitters,” Lake City coach Bryan Kelly said. “We moved the ball really well and got the ball into our posts.”

Nina Carlson had 15 points, and Chloe Teets had six points and seven assists for Lake City, which visits Sandpoint on Tuesday.

“I thought our guards, especially Ashlynn (Allen) and Chloe (Teets) played really well,” Kelly said. “Sandpoint’s a scrappy team and plays a good zone defense. You’ve got to move the ball and be patient, and we did that tonight.”

Grace Kirscher scored 13 points for Sandpoint (0-3).
