Good deeds in Ghana

While most of us were voting to make the world a better place, a handful of North Idahoans were working to make the world a little bit better.
Almost 50 years ago, Betsy Bullard of Coeur d’Alene served in the Peace Corps in Ghana. She rekindled her connection there recently by working in a school of about 200 children. That sounded like a pretty good project to Betsy’s husband, Mike, and friends Carrie Foshee and Dr. Justin StormoGipson.
That group is now helping Betsy as volunteers in a small fishing village called Anloga. They help with instruction, classroom management, counseling and providing eye exams and glasses to the students through Dr. StormoGipson’s work with the International Eye Institute (IEI). IEI is a locally based nonprofit organization that provides eye care services to impoverished people in developing countries.
