Chiefs lose on Seattle's three-goal third
SPOKANE — The Spokane Chiefs allowed three unanswered goals in the third period and lost 5-2 to the Seattle Thunderbirds on Tuesday night in Western Hockey League play in front of 3,317 at Spokane Arena.
It was the first time in eight games Spokane did not earn a point.
The Chiefs trailed 2-0 late in the first period. Kailer Yamamoto scored his team-leading 16 goal of the season. He’s now scored at least one point in eight straight games. The Chiefs were down 2-1 after the first period.
Spokane tied it 13 seconds into the second period. Hunter Elyniuk scored his sixth of the season to make it a 2-2 game after the second period.
The Chiefs’ record is 7-7-4-1. They are now tied with Seattle for third place in the U.S. Division.
Spokane will host the Calgary Hitmen on Friday night at 7:05 p.m.
