Silverwood donates $100,000 to Children's Village
Every year hundreds of thousands of guests visit Silverwood Theme Park, and many take a ride on Silverwood’s signature train. While on the infamous Steam Train No. 7, guests are informed that any change given to Silverwood’s less-than-skillful train robbers will be donated to charity.
The “robbers” bounty will once again help support the programs and services of Children’s Village in Coeur d’Alene.
This year Silverwood’s guests generously donated to support the cause, and with an additional contribution by Silverwood’s owners Gary and Jeanne Norton, the total gift amounted to $100,000.
Children’s Village, a nonprofit, provides residential care for kids who have been abused, neglected or whose families are in crisis.
The donation will help offset expenses incurred by Children’s Village to help those kids with medical needs, therapy, and transportation to their original schools, and of course food and shelter.
Silverwood’s train ride has operated since the park opened in 1988 and has become one of the parks most beloved attractions. Owner Gary Norton’s philosophy is “We are not an island; it’s our responsibility to help out our neighbors.”
