PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL: Timberlake runs past Sandpoint

| November 13, 2016 8:15 PM

SPIRIT LAKE — Junior Lilly Kelley came off the bench to score 13 points, sparking the Timberlake Tigers past the Sandpoint Bulldogs 73-27 in the nonleague opener for both schools on Saturday.

“It was a pretty slow start offensively for both teams,” said Timberlake coach Matt Miller, whose team led 1-0 with 3:30 remaining in the first quarter. “We were a little cold starting out, but got a good boost from Lilly and we got some momentum going and started to play pretty well from there on out.”

Keelie Lawler, who signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Division II Western State Colorado in Gunnison, scored 20 points and Allison Kirby — who plans to sign with Idaho this week — had 18 points for Timberlake, which hosts Lakeland on Tuesday.

Bonners Ferry transfer Trinity Golder scored eight points for Sandpoint, which hosts Post Falls on Tuesday.
