Chiefs top Everett

SPOKANE — Kailer Yamamoto scored the game-winner 2:04 into overtime as the Spokane Chiefs won 2-1 over the Everett Silvertips in Western Hockey League action in front of 6,012 at Spokane Arena on Saturday night.

Yamamoto’s game-winner capped a three-point night as he had two goals and an assist. He assisted on Markson Bechtold’s goal with 23 seconds left in the first period, which tied the game at 1.

Yamamoto scored his first goal 3:54 into the third period to tie the game at 2.

It was the Chiefs’ first win in 10 games when trailing after two periods as they were down 2-1. It was the Chiefs’ first win in six overtime games this season.

Spokane is 2-1 against division-leading Everett this season.

The Chiefs will host Seattle in the fourth game of a six-game homestead Tuesday at 7:05 p.m.
