Linda Schmidt, 66

Linda Marie (Shepperd) Schmidt, 66, of Rathdrum, Idaho, passed away Nov. 8, 2016, at Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She was born March 30, 1950, in Coeur d’Alene to James and Janice (Stoddard) Shepperd.

Linda grew up in Coeur d’Alene and graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1968. After high school graduation, she attended North Idaho College. Linda was married to her high school sweetheart, Ron Schmidt, on June 6, 1969, in Coeur d’Alene.

While Linda and Ron’s family was young, Linda enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom. Once the girls were in school, she was a secretary for Pioneer Woodworking in Rathdrum. Linda was a proud North Idaho Native. She and Ron built their home and raised their family in Rathdrum. Linda enjoyed camping with her husband and loved listening to Ron’s many fly fishing stories! She also enjoyed watching her five granddaughters grow up and was their biggest cheerleader for all their sporting events. She also loved working in her flower gardens.

Linda was preceded in death by her mother in 2006. She is survived by her father, James Julian Shepperd of Coeur d’Alene; her husband, Ron Schmidt of Rathdrum; her brother, James M. Shepperd of Edmonds, Wash.; daughters Jodie (Chad) DeVore of Rathdrum and Krista (Chad) Summers of Priest River, Idaho; her five granddaughters, Katlyn Ward, Kyra DeVore, Avery Lynn Summers, McKenna DeVore and Keely DeVore; and many beloved cousins.

The memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 14, 2016, at Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d’Alene Chapel. Burial will follow at Pinegrove Cemetery in Rathdrum. Please visit Linda’s online memorial and sign her guest book at www.yatesfunealhomes.com.
