POEM: Tribute to veterans

| November 11, 2016 8:00 PM

Yes I’m a veteran through and through,

Did what we did for the red, white and blue.

Stood in the trenches, dirty and wet,

Things that we’d seen, we’ll never forget.

It was rugged and tough not knowing from where

The next shell will hit, and who it will spare.

The trials and errors we faced every day,

Nowhere to hide, but still found our way.

We salute all our brothers and sisters, who stood by our side,

And marched to the call with daring and pride.

And I’m telling you all we would do it again,

If that’s what it took for our freedom to win.

When the tour was up, we came home to face

The heartaches for wounded, with limbs to replace.

So we ask you good people to be aware,

Just how important it is, to know that you care.
